Beautiful Vintage Cross in Gilt Silver and Black Guilloche Enamel – O.F. Hjortdahl

Selling a beautiful, classic cross pendant in gilt silver with deep, black guilloche enamel and a small pearl at the centre. This piece is a fine example of traditional Norwegian silversmithing from the mid-20th century.

The cross comes complete with a matching silver chain.

Details and hallmarks:

• Pendant: Hallmarked 925S (sterling silver) and bearing the maker's mark of the renowned Oslo silversmith O.F. Hjortdahl (stylised flower/rosette with a line through it).
• Chain: Hallmarked 830S (traditional Norwegian silver standard) and maker's mark Y.
• Chain length: 44 cm. Cross: 4 cm high and 2.7 cm wide.

Condition:

The piece is in good vintage condition. The enamel is completely intact, whole and attractive with no cracks or chipping. The gilding is even and fine. There are normal, light wear marks in the silver on the reverse, which is entirely natural for a piece of jewellery from this period.
