Hand-carved wooden bird made as POW work during World War II.
The piece is carved in wood with detailed feather and wing sections, and stands as a decorative example of the type of objects often made by prisoners of war and internees under difficult conditions. The bird is hand-painted in simple colours and shows clear traces of craftsmanship.
