Description
Rare and decorative tin toy from the Japanese company Modern Toys (Masudaya), produced in the post-war period ca. 1950–60. This is a characteristic “comic car” fire engine with colourful lithographed decoration and a playful design.
The vehicle features a humorous design with a smiling front and illustrations of animals depicted as firemen along the sides. On the roof sits a plastic water cannon, and details such as a hose and equipment are found at the rear. Typical of this type of toy is simple mechanics, often with friction drive.
An attractive collectible within Japanese tin toys, known for their quality and distinctive style.
