In the forest: painting attributed to Georg Backer Berg

Framed woodland painting with expressive trees, a clearing and a palette of green, ochre, brown and blue-grey. Visible brushwork and canvas texture give the painting a lively surface.

The signature at lower left reads as «G. Backer Berg». An inscription on the reverse gives the same name and the title «I skogen» (In the forest). The painting is therefore attributed to Georg Backer Berg, but independent authentication is not available. The medium was previously described as oil on canvas; the date has not been established.

Supplied in a wooden frame. The painting appears in good used condition in the photographs. The frame shows age and handling wear, marks and small scratches.
