Description

Authentic older/antique German beer stein (Bierkrug) in salt-glazed stoneware with hand-painted details in cobalt blue, scrollwork ornamentation and rosette banding. The stein has an incised «4» near the handle, a hinged pewter lid with a lily-shaped thumb lift and a portrait medallion on top.

The stein bears a historic, old repair with metal staples ("staple repair") along the cracks in the body, which underscores its considerable age and adds extra collector's character.

• Type: Beer stein / stoneware stein with pewter lid
• Region/style: Germany / Westerwald tradition
• Material: Salt-glazed stoneware, pewter and metal staples
• Dimensions: width approx. 10cm, height approx. 20.5cm
• Marking: Incised «4» at the upper handle attachment, portrait medallion on the lid

• Condition:
Antique condition with clear age and patina. Has cracks/hairline cracks throughout that have been historically secured/repaired with metal staples. Appears stable and structurally sound, and the pewter lid functions well on its hinge. Please see photos for condition, as these form part of the description.

Sold as depicted in the photos.
