Description
Antique Danish silver drinking horn with a lid, figural finial and richly engraved scrollwork and animal motifs. It rests on shaped supports and has a tower-shaped terminal.
The horn was assayed in Copenhagen in 1896 and is tentatively attributed to the goldsmith firm P. Hertz. Simon Groth’s mark identifies him as the city assayer who tested the silver. The engraved inscription includes the years 1884 and 1909.
