Digitalt dødsbo: Norway's digital estate service
Digitalt dødsbo is a Norwegian public service providing heirs with guidance and an overview of registered information about a deceased person's assets and debts. One purpose is to support an informed choice of estate administration procedure. It is not a digital appraisal of every object in the home.
Access and scope
Altinn states that access requires a formuesfullmakt and/or skifteattest, together with access granted by the district court. Eligible heirs receive a message containing a link in Altinn. The court assesses the individual estate.
The service is being expanded. Digdir's status information, updated on 19 October 2026, describes further connections to courts and information sources. A planned national rollout does not establish that a particular estate already has access. Follow current guidance from the court and Altinn's service description.
Household contents need their own inventory
Registered financial data does not replace practical documentation of furniture, jewellery and collections. Prepare an object inventory with photographs, markings and items the family wishes to keep. Keep this task separate from questions about legal representation and debts.
