Porcelain Figure Elephant, Cortendorf ca. 1950-60

Decorative porcelain figure of an elephant from the German manufacturer Cortendorf, produced in West Germany. The figure has a raised trunk, a classic symbol of good luck, and is executed in glossy glazed ceramic in grey and cream-white tones.

Typical of Cortendorf from the mid-1900s are the naturalistic forms combined with stylised expression and soft colour transitions. The underside is stamped with model number 2217, which exists in several variants.

A charming, period-typical figure suitable both as a collector's item and as decor.
