Description

Hand-painted porcelain figure of an orangutan from Lomonosov (Imperial Porcelain Factory) in Russia. The figure depicts a standing ape with characteristic expressive features and long arms, modelled in a naturalistic yet stylised form typical of the factory's animal series.

The glaze shows soft transitions in brown tones over a light base, bringing life to the surface and highlighting the details in the face and body. The figure is well known among collectors and is often associated with the model name "Orangutan Johnny", originally designed by Boris Vorobyov.
