Porcelain figurine, ptarmigan – Porsgrund by Tor Vaa, ca. 2000-05

Porcelain figure of a ptarmigan designed by the Norwegian sculptor Tor Vaa for Porsgrunds Porselænsfabrik. The figure depicts a ptarmigan in winter plumage with a stylised and naturalistic expression.

Executed in white porcelain with hand-painted details such as a dark beak, grey-toned feather sections and the characteristic red marking above the eye. The figure has a clean, Scandinavian design idiom, typical of Porsgrund's animal figures.
