Accurist
Accurist is a British watch brand founded in London in 1946 by Asher and Rebecca Loftus. Its early watches used Swiss components. Production was subsequently moved to Japan alongside the development of electronic watches. British brand heritage therefore does not mean that every component, or every watch, was manufactured in Britain.
The history encompasses changing styles, from fashion-oriented wristwatches to later collections. A brand refresh in 2022 drew inspiration from its own archive. A historically inspired modern design must therefore be distinguished from a genuinely older example. Materials and crystal specifications in a new catalogue apply to the model described, rather than automatically to vintage Accurist watches.
When assessing a watch, record references, case-back wording, movement type and any country indications. Examine dial, hands, crown and case for wear and known alterations. For an electronic watch, document operation and any battery damage. Keep receipts and service records, and investigate the individual watch before deciding on its origin or price.
