Alba
Alba is a watch brand launched in Japan in 1979 and created by Seiko Watch Corporation, according to the manufacturer's own history. Its markets have included Asia and the Middle East. The brand associates its name with dawn.
Alba has its own brand identity despite its documented connection with Seiko. The manufacturer's range also includes a dedicated category of mechanical watches. The brand name alone therefore cannot describe a watch's movement or functions. An older example needs to be examined as the specific model it is.
When cataloguing a used Alba watch, begin with photographs of the dial and case back, reference numbers and observations of how it runs. Record any differences between case, dial and bracelet, and retain original paperwork. The Seiko connection does not demonstrate that parts from an arbitrary Seiko model are compatible, or that every Alba watch was made in the same country. Use the correct model and movement references for further research.
