Ann Wolff
Ann Wolff is a German-born artist working with glass and other sculptural materials. She came to Sweden in 1960. Kosta Boda records her work for the company from 1964 to 1978 and attributes the Snowball votive design to her.
A familiar production object and an independent artwork require different assessment. The artist’s name does not establish that every glass object with a snow-like surface follows her design. Nor does it mean all of her work was produced by Kosta Boda.
For used objects, compare model, dimensions, shape and material with reliable catalogue information. Inspect the base, candle opening and edges for damage and record missing labels or uncertain signatures. Production period, sale date and an artist’s employment at a glassworks are separate facts. A later-made votive can retain an older design, so the collaboration period alone cannot date an individual example.
