Anne Haavind
Anne Haavind, born in 1967, is a Norwegian printmaker and glass designer. Her crystal objects include vases, bowls and dishes with clean, sculptural forms. They can function as useful vessels and as independent shapes within an interior.
In a 2013 interview in KUNST, Haavind explains that she is not herself a trained glassblower. She develops the designs and directs teams of glassblowers in the Czech Republic. The interview also documents objects for The Thief hotel in Oslo and discusses the finishing of tops and edges. Norwegian design and the executing workshop should consequently be identified as separate roles.
For attribution, compare an object with documented works in shape, proportions, colour and finish. Record signatures and labels without assuming that every piece is marked alike. Heavy crystal or a straight-cut rim alone cannot establish Haavind as the designer. An original receipt, model information and documented provenance strengthen identification. Record chips and scratches at the edges as part of the condition description.
