Arvesølv cutlery pattern
Arvesølv by Th. Marthinsen
Arvesølv is a cutlery pattern by Th. Marthinsen. Its handles have lengthwise lines and a small lattice detail at the tip. The manufacturer connects the decoration to leaded windows on a storehouse at Maihaugen.
Identification
Compare the complete handle shape and decoration with the manufacturer's catalogue, and examine the marks separately. Arvesølv is a pattern name, rather than simply inherited silver, and should not be confused with the company Arven.
Composite utensils such as cheese slicers may combine different materials. An 830S mark on a handle describes that component's silver fineness, not the entire utensil. A pattern's history does not date an individual example.
