Auction lot
An auction lot is one object or a group of objects offered as a single sale unit. One lot number therefore does not necessarily mean that the bid concerns just one physical item.
Check what is included
Read the description alongside the photographs. Check the number of parts, dimensions and expressly included accessories. Ask for clarification if images and text appear inconsistent. A condition report can distinguish the condition of individual parts within a group.
Practical example: Six cups and six saucers offered together form one sale unit containing twelve pieces. This is not an actual listing. When reviewing estate contents, use an object inventory to record parts before considering groups for sale.
See OBA's auction page. To sell several objects together, read about selling collections to OBA.
