Baltic (watch brand)
Baltic is a watch brand with assembly and adjustment in France. Founder Etienne Malec dates its founding to 2016. The brand's own archive lists Bicompax 001 and HMS 001 in April 2017. Founding and the introduction of those collections are therefore distinct milestones.
Modern watches with historical references
The styling can recall earlier wristwatches, but model names and documentation are needed to establish the production period. Historical styling does not make a watch an object from the period it references. Baltic's production statement places most component manufacturing in Hong Kong and watch assembly and adjustment in Besançon. French assembly therefore does not mean that every part was made in France.
Second-hand assessment
Record the full model name, reference, movement and any serial number. Compare archive material for the correct generation. Check whether dial, hands and bracelet match the variant, and describe replacements. Distinguishing a documented limited edition from a regular model requires more than an unusual dial colour.
