Beate Einen
Beate Einen is a Norwegian glass artist with a studio and workshop on Askøy near Bergen. Her training includes technical glass studies at Kosta in Sweden and a master's degree in glass from the University of Sunderland in Britain. Her practice ranges from functional glass and design to sculptural objects, lighting and site-specific installations.
A documented example
KORO records her Sculpture 3/5, dated 2015, as a sculpture and glass work made from hand-blown glass. The entry provides specific evidence of artist, date and technique for this work. It should not be taken to establish the technique of every object associated with Einen. Professional profiles also list her work in the collections of KODE, Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseum and the National Museum of Norway.
Identification and collecting
For an individual glass object, examine the name, any work title, dimensions and provenance together. Comparison with a documented catalogue entry is more precise than attribution based solely on colour or shape. Distinguish the artist's identity, the title of a particular work and evidence about its production. Museum representation provides useful context but does not authenticate an undocumented object.
