Bente Brekke
Bente Brekke is a glass artist with a workshop and gallery on Tjøme, Norway. Her own CV states that she has worked with glass since 2000 and completed an MA in Glass and Ceramics at the University of Sunderland in 2019. Her practice explores the material through delicate expressions and rougher sculptural forms.
Contemporary Glass Society lists casting, flame working and kiln work among her techniques. The presentation includes small flame-worked vessels, cast sculptures and Listen, made using pâte de verre and kiln casting. This illustrates why glass art should not automatically be described as glassblowing.
When assessing a possible Brekke work, compare its form, surface, dimensions and documented technique with a specific recorded object. Transcribe signatures or labels as they appear, and retain receipts and exhibition information. A rough or matt surface may form part of the intended expression and should be examined before being called damage. Similar material or a general motif alone is insufficient for confident attribution.
