BergArt Gullsmedverkstad
BergArt Gullsmedverkstad was established by goldsmith Kathrine Berg in 1997. The business has a shop in Nordfjordeid and a workshop in Hunvikja. Berg is the goldsmith behind the business, but BergArt also operates as a retailer of other suppliers' products.
Its own production includes handmade silver jewellery. SMELT illustrates why the individual maker matters: BergArt credits this collection to its apprentice Tuva, who remelts workshop metal offcuts into new pieces. The collection includes bright and oxidised silver finishes. Not everything sold by the shop can therefore be attributed personally to Kathrine Berg.
Keep model names, receipts and any information about the person who made a secondhand jewel. Distinguish the workshop's own output from other brands and pre-owned goods sold through the shop. A similar finish or ornament alone does not establish origin. Changes, repairs and replacement fastenings should also be recorded when describing a piece.
