Bjørg Jewellery (Bjørg Nordli-Mathisen)
Bjørg Jewellery, also styled BJØRG, is the jewellery studio founded in 2004 by Norwegian artist Bjørg Nordli-Mathisen. Its sculptural language draws on the body and nature. The brand must be distinguished from silversmith Toril Bjorg, who is a different person.
The studio describes a process in which Bjørg develops forms and works with specialist craftspeople on their realization. Designer, brand and executing workshop are distinct roles. A piece should therefore not automatically be described as made entirely by the designer alone.
When examining second-hand jewellery, compare the model, dimensions and stated materials with the brand’s documentation. Inspect clasps, joints and surface finishes and record missing components. Metal can be plated, while fineness and stone identity require evidence for the particular model. An organic appearance or gold colour cannot establish the maker, age or gold content.
