Breguet
Breguet is a watch house whose history reaches back to Abraham Louis Breguet's Paris workshop in 1775. Its official timeline documents watches, technical developments and names across several generations.
Historic watches
The workshop made pocket watches in a period when watches were often individually ordered. Later production also includes wristwatches. Signature, serial number, dial, hands, case and movement must be assessed in their period. The name Breguet also describes styles of hands and numerals, but these features do not prove the maker.
Identification
Examine every main component and compare numbers and records with the Breguet archive. A Breguet signature on the dial or Breguet style hands alone is insufficient. Repairs and replacement parts should be recorded separately.
