Bugge & Authen jewellery workshop
Bugge & Authen Juvelerverksted was established on 1 May 2012 by Remy Bugge and Ingvild Authen. It initially carried out repairs and bespoke orders for other jewellers. Its own shop on Grünerløkka in Oslo opened in 2015. These are separate milestones: the workshop preceded the retail shop.
Hand skills and digital methods
The business documents CAD, CNC milling and 3D printing in product development and jewellery production alongside handwork and repairs. An in-house casting facility began in 2017, while its history describes a new facility on Bjølsen in 2019. It also took over Gullsmedbutikken on Gressvik that year. Workshop formation, shop opening, casting facilities and later moves therefore require separate dates.
Identification and authorship
The range includes the firm's own brand and products from other suppliers. A retailer's name does not automatically identify the executing maker. Assess drawings, order papers, receipts, markings and repair history together. Remodelling an older jewel at Bugge & Authen does not establish that the original object was made there. A particular punch mark requires its own documentation before being attributed to the workshop.
