Bulova
Bulova is a watch brand rooted in Joseph Bulova's New York business of 1875. It has a particular place in watchmaking history through the Accutron, introduced in 1960 with an electronically driven tuning fork as its timekeeping element.
Accutron does not describe every Bulova watch
An older tuning-fork Accutron must be distinguished from both mechanical watches and conventional quartz watches. Bulova's range also includes automatic watches and quartz models. The tuning-fork logo therefore does not establish that an individual watch contains a tuning-fork movement.
Examine the actual version
Record model name, case markings and all legible numbers or codes. Confirm movement type through appropriate documentation or a watchmaker's inspection. Do not apply an assumed numbering sequence from another model as a secure date. Compare dial, hands, case and crown before describing a watch as original.
Condition and servicing
State what has actually been tested, how long the watch has run and what servicing is documented. For older electronic watches, establish battery type and servicing requirements for the particular movement rather than choosing from the brand name alone. Describe corrosion, wear and replaced parts. Running does not automatically mean fully serviced or cleared for use in water.
