Carl Suchy & Söhne
Carl Suchy & Söhne is a watchmaking name with historic roots in Prague and a modern revival in Vienna. Carl Suchy opened his Prague business in 1822. The modern brand was revived in Vienna in 2017. These dates describe different phases and do not establish uninterrupted production.
Today's watches draw on Viennese Modernism. The brand describes production in small series in Austria and Switzerland. Its collections include Waltz Nº1, Belvedere and the Table Waltz table clock. Waltz Nº1 uses a rotating disc as a distinctive seconds display, while Belvedere is associated with a date window that changes position around the dial.
For buyers of pre-owned watches, the model, reference, movement and accompanying documents matter more than the age of the historic name. Older pocket watches and wall clocks require assessment as historical objects. Specifications for contemporary wristwatches must not be transferred to them.
