Cathrine Maske

Cathrine Maske is a Norwegian artist working with glass and photography. She uses blown and cast glass, among other approaches, exploring how transparency, reflection and lens effects change what we see. Her practice includes art objects, public art and functional design products.

Glasslaboratoriet and collaboration

The artist's account of Glasslaboratoriet from 2021 states that its round glass objects were made in collaboration with Vidar Koksvik at Klart Glass. S12 describes the series as combining blown glass with found glass elements. It illustrates why artistic conception, pre-existing materials and production collaboration should be distinguished.

Identification and condition

Do not attribute an unsigned glass object to Maske simply because it is spherical or produces optical effects. Seek documentation for the individual work and record its title, dimensions, signature and provenance where available. Also describe any photographic elements and the condition of joins. State documented collaborations without extending them to all the artist's works.
