Claude Bernard is a Swiss watch brand with an atelier in Les Genevez. Its own presentation describes hand assembly at this atelier and states that the Strambini family has owned the business since 1973. These business details do not establish the age of an individual watch.

Collections include Classic, Slim Line, Aquarider and Proud Heritage. NEO 1973 is a later collection inspired by the appearance of the 1970s. The number in its name does not mean that a particular example was made in 1973. A vintage-inspired design must be distinguished from an actual vintage watch.

When assessing a used Claude Bernard, the reference and specific movement matter more than the collection name alone. The brand offers automatic watches, but this does not make every model automatic. Check functions, case, crystal and service records against the correct reference. Present statements about sapphire crystals or assembly should not automatically be extended to older models.
