Corgi Toys

Corgi is a British diecast model brand launched on 9 July 1956. Its range includes cars, lorries, buses, aircraft and models connected with film and popular culture.

Identification

Begin with the model number and baseplate. Check vehicle, scale, country, wheels, glazing, interior, colour and features. Box number, illustration and wording should correspond, but an old box does not prove an early issue.

Original or reissue?

Corgi has reissued classics. Distinguish originals, reproductions and modern reissues by baseplate, item number, details, materials and packaging.

Condition

Inspect paint, corrosion, axles, wheels, suspension, glazing, figures, decals and moving parts. Correct original packaging and accessories can add interest.
