Ebel

Ebel is a Swiss watch brand founded in 1911 by Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy. Its name derives from “Eugène Blum et Lévy”, referring to the founders rather than a movement or material.

Sport Classic and the wave bracelet

The Sport Classic was introduced in 1977 and is known for an integrated bracelet with a wave pattern. This became a distinctive feature in the brand's design history. Ebel has also used 1911 as a collection name. A number in a model name should therefore not be read as the production year of an individual watch.

Buying an older Ebel

Check the specific reference and movement rather than inferring the technology from appearance. On integrated-bracelet models, carefully document wear, clasp, length and any missing links. Establish the case material from reliable evidence; colour alone is insufficient. Request clear photographs and service history, and distinguish information about original specification from later replacement parts.
