Eberhard & Co.
Eberhard & Co. is a Swiss watch brand founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1887. Its own timeline dates the company's first wristwatch chronograph to 1919. This is a milestone in the firm's history, rather than a claim to the world's first wristwatch chronograph.
Names in the brand's history include Extra-fort and Scafograf. A model name can span a long period and later reinterpretations. It therefore does not establish production year, movement or the original combination of components. A chronograph provides elapsed-time measurement, but every watch from the brand should not be classified as one.
For an older example, document the reference, movement, dial and case together. Check functions and service history and record restored or replaced parts. Specifications of modern models, including power reserve and water resistance, require a matching reference before they can describe an older watch.
