Edox
Edox is a Swiss watch brand founded in Biel in 1884 by Christian Rüefli-Flury. The hourglass is its emblem. The Delfin, introduced in 1961, is an important part of its history, with a construction focused on water resistance.
Model and period
The Edox name alone does not establish the movement, case material or functions of a particular watch. Identify its model and reference before comparing specifications. A historical Delfin and a newer watch bearing the same model name should not automatically be treated as technically equivalent.
Assessing older watches
Document the dial, hands, crown, caseback and any reference and movement numbers. Ask about servicing, replacement parts and functional checks. An old depth rating or the brand's historical reputation is not a measurement of present water resistance. If water use is intended, have a watchmaker examine the individual watch and test its seals.
