Elfi Sverdrup
Elfi Sverdrup is a Norwegian artist working with jewellery, performance and singing. Her sound-jewellery performances bring sculptural jewellery together with individual sound compositions and movement. An object can consequently belong to a larger artwork rather than function solely as a wearable ornament.
Materials need to be established for each piece. Vestfold Kunstsenter’s workshop with Sverdrup documents the use of leather, silver wire, metal leaf and pigments among its supplies. This list does not establish the composition of every work she has made. A gold-coloured surface does not prove solid gold.
Collectors should retain the work’s title, material information, accompanying components and exhibition history. Keep statements supplied by the artist and photograph the front and reverse. Unusual materials alone cannot establish an attribution to Sverdrup. Her name also provides no automatic identification of a responsibility mark.
