Elsie-Ann Hochlin
Elsie-Ann Hochlin is a Norwegian jewellery artist whose materials include painted wood and metal. Colour, organic forms and large sculptural compositions allow her pieces to function as art worn on the body. Kunstnerforbundet records her diploma from the metal department at SHKS in 1986.
Materials need to be identified for each work. The National Museum catalogues Bursdagskrone II, dated 2005, as collage on aluminium with plastic film. This particular work demonstrates why her name should not be associated exclusively with wooden jewellery.
For identification, compare the title, exhibition history, construction and documented provenance. Bright colours or floral imagery alone cannot establish authorship. Preserve original surfaces and connections when considering cleaning an older piece.
