Göran Wärff
Göran Wärff was a Swedish designer and glass artist who lived from 1933 to 2022. Kosta Boda documents work including Limelight. The sea’s forms and colours and the effects of light were important inspirations in his glass practice.
He first came to Kosta Boda in the mid-1960s. Later work in Australia and the United Kingdom did not prevent occasional design commissions for Kosta. His history should therefore not be simplified into a complete break during his years abroad. An artist biography is not a production log for every glass object.
Collectors benefit from documented range, model, dimensions and markings rather than broad stylistic resemblance. Inspect rims, bases and vulnerable details and retain labels or old receipts. Light effects or flowing shapes alone cannot establish authorship. Distinguish production pieces from independent artworks and works credited to several designers.
