Grethe Meyer

Grethe Meyer was a Danish architect and industrial designer who worked across several kinds of everyday objects. In glassware she is associated with Stub and Stamme, designed in collaboration with Ibi Trier Mørch. These ranges should therefore not be credited to Meyer alone. The designer's name must also be distinguished from the glassworks responsible for production.

Stub combines a short stem with a stackable form. Holmegaard's current product information explicitly distinguishes Kastrup Glassworks' original production from 1958 to 1995 from a later reintroduced version. A classic design name does not mean that every surviving example belongs to its first production period.

When assessing used pieces, compare dimensions, shape, any marks and provenance with documented catalogues and product records. Modern capacities and measurements must not automatically be applied to older variants. Inspect the foot and rim for chips and the surface for wear. Stackability alone is insufficient for a secure attribution.
