Maker

Gullsmed Skaugrud

Gullsmed Skaugrud is a goldsmithing workshop in Oslo that dates its activity to 2015. It makes new jewellery, repairs pieces and remodels older work. Stine Horten Skaugrud appears in the Oslo Goldsmiths' Guild membership list.

Workshop practice

Its own presentation shows handmade engagement and wedding rings, bespoke jewellery and remodelling using customers' gold. Services also include resizing rings and repairing bunad silver. These operations should be distinguished: a repair need not change a piece's basic form, while remodelling may give the material a new design.

Useful documentation

For commissioned work, drawings, invoices, material information and correspondence help document its origin. For older jewellery that has passed through the workshop, specify what was actually done. A repair receipt naming the workshop does not automatically identify it as the original maker. Examine the object's marks separately. The business's start in 2015 does not date gold or other reused components incorporated into a piece.
