Hammerlund, Askvoll og Haugrud

Hammerlund, Askvoll og Haugrud is a Norwegian business name associated with pewter and giftware. Its own history traces Hammerlunds Kunsthandel to Tor Hammerlund's start in Oslo in 1937. The Blakkisrud family acquired the business in 2003. Askvoll Brug and Haugrud were subsequently incorporated through acquisitions and merger.

A documented product at jeweller J. Frisenberg is Haugrud Melkespann Stor, a lidded pewter milk churn listed as 17.5 cm high. It illustrates giftware based on a historical object form. Shape alone does not make it an antique milk vessel or prove agricultural use.

When assessing older pewter, transcribe the name or mark on the object exactly. Distinguish the historical Hammerlund, Askvoll and Haugrud names from the later combined business and from the retailer. An acquisition date does not automatically date a model. Record product number, dimensions, casting traces, decoration and provenance, and compare a documented catalogue. Company name alone establishes neither a particular hallmark design nor alloy percentage.
