Harry Pedersen Gull og Sølvvare

Harry Pedersen Gull og Sølvvare is a name associated with the production of costume silver and jewellery in Bergen, Norway. The workshop's history begins in 1947. Harry's son Rolf worked alongside his father from 1962 and later took over the business.

Goldsmith and jewellery artist Silje Bergsvik has continued the craft under Harry Pedersen Gull og Sølvvare Eftf. AS. An interview by Etablerersenteret records her purchase of workshop equipment and products and the establishment of a new company with a closely related name. The historical workshop's starting date must therefore be distinguished from the successor company's incorporation.

Production is documented for the Bergen bunad. Norsk bunadleksikon, reproduced in Store norske leksikon, also identifies costume silver made by Harry Pedersen for the Bjørgvin costumes. These costumes and their silver accessories should not be conflated merely because both are associated with Bergen.

For secondhand pieces, establish the appropriate costume, design, period and documented maker. A traditional name may continue while the people and company change. This history alone cannot identify a particular hallmark.
