Hilde Nødtvedt

Hilde Nødtvedt is a Norwegian filigree silversmith who makes costume jewellery by hand. She gained her journeyman qualification in filigree in 1980 and her master craftsman's certificate in 1987. In 2014 she completed a master's degree in folk culture and traditional arts at Telemark University College.

Her work includes brooches and other silver ornaments for bunads from different parts of Norway. Her workshop was based at the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History for many years, and she has collaborated with its specialists. This association does not establish that every piece she makes is a museum replica or a historical original.

Keep information about the commission, model and maker with a secondhand jewel. Traditional designs can be continued in entirely new work. Examine wirework, hanging elements and repairs, and distinguish documented provenance from an attribution based on decoration alone. No particular responsibility mark is identified here without additional evidence.
