Ingunn Birkeland

Ingunn Birkeland is a Norwegian designer with a background in clothing and costume. Her practice also includes jewellery and textile art. Her profile at Oslos supermarked describes a checked pattern developed through weaving and carried into several product areas, including enamel jewellery.

Opro identifies the Kiss pendant as an Ingunn Birkeland design. It is specified as 925 silver and enamel, with several sizes, colours and silver or gold-plated finishes. Opro describes handmade jewellery production at its enamel workshop in Oslo. In this collaboration Birkeland is therefore the designer and Opro the executing producer.

When buying a used piece, record the model name and variant. Colour and size can differ within one documented model, and a gold-coloured surface should not automatically be described as solid gold. Compare the appropriate product listing and retain any packaging or purchase records. The designer's name is not in itself a responsibility mark, and a checked pattern alone is insufficient for secure attribution.
