Household contents and movable belongings
Household contents means the furniture and other belongings associated with a home. The Norwegian word løsøre is broader and refers to movable things. Bokmålsordboka distinguishes the contents of a dwelling from movable goods generally. Clearance discussions often combine the terms, but neither is a precise inventory of what an assignment includes.
Turn a general term into a specific list
Prepare an object inventory rather than writing only “all contents”. As a practical example, an agreement can distinguish living-room furniture, a dinner service being retained and tools considered for sale. Clarify belongings owned by other people. A room or address alone does not establish ownership of its contents.
This article explains everyday terminology for reviewing and selling objects. Definitions in a particular insurance contract, property transaction or tax rule require separate checking; this overview does not determine those matters.
Next steps
For the contents of a whole home, request a household or estate site visit. For selected belongings, send photographs and request a purchase offer. Establish what will be kept before describing the assignment.
