Maker

IWC Schaffhausen

IWC Schaffhausen is a Swiss watch brand founded in 1868 by American watchmaker and engineer Florentine Ariosto Jones. His aim was to combine modern American production methods with Swiss watchmaking skills in Schaffhausen.

Production over time

IWC has made pocket watches, wristwatches and movements across many periods. Its official history records the first IWC movements designed specifically for wristwatches in 1915. Model names, logos, calibres and case marks vary by age and market.

Identification

Examine dial, movement and inner case together. Serial number, reference, calibre and material marks should agree with the period. An IWC signature on one component does not prove that every part originally belonged together.
