Kaja Gjedebo
Kaja Gjedebo is a Norwegian jewellery artist and designer behind KGD, kaja gjedebo design. In her own biography she describes how studying in the furniture department at Edinburgh College of Art also led her into the jewellery workshop. Furniture and jewellery therefore both form part of the background to her design practice.
KGD's own information distinguishes the stages of manufacture: designs and prototypes are made in Oslo, while production takes place at Felicia Design in Bangkok. Norwegian design here does not mean that every production stage occurs in Norway. The website specifies 925 sterling silver and also describes gold-plated finishes.
Norske Kunsthåndverkere documents her collaboration with the German brand Bastian Inverun, including the Fairytale leaf collection from 2018. A Gjedebo design can therefore appear under a brand other than KGD. For identification, examine the collection, execution and markings together. A leaf motif, gold-coloured surface or initials alone cannot securely establish the designer, producer or metal content.
