Karen Klim
Karen Klim is a glass artist born in Copenhagen in 1951 and based in Oslo. Her own CV records training at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts and the glass school in Orrefors, followed by work at glass studios in England and Denmark. She established her own hot shop at Frysja.
Norske Kunsthåndverkere's film about her practice focuses on changing states of water. Hot glass takes shape through the interaction of hand and body. Her website presents work under names including Frozen River and The Stillness of the Moment, providing specific points of reference for her visual language.
When assessing a work, retain its title, signature, dimensions, purchase source and any exhibition history. Distinguish Karen Klim as artist from Frysja as a workshop location. Water-like forms, colour or a general association with Norwegian studio glass are insufficient for attribution. Compare with documented works and keep uncertain information explicitly uncertain.
