Kjersti Johannessen
Kjersti Johannessen is a glass artist based in Oslo. She records training at the glass school in Kosta, Sweden, and the Glass and Ceramic School on Bornholm, Denmark. Norske Kunsthåndverkere states that she has blown glass since 1997.
Her work explores the relationship between light, glass and colour. Cut facets can emphasize refraction and reflections. In her S12 presentation, Johannessen describes using several colour layers within an object and opening them at different angles during finishing. This offers a concrete way to examine how surface and form interact.
Collectors should retain records for the individual work: title, year if known, dimensions, signature and purchase history. Colour layers and cut surfaces alone do not identify the artist, since related techniques are used by others. Compare with catalogued or exhibited works and distinguish a documented artist attribution from a general description such as Norwegian studio glass.
