Knapstad Glass

Knapstad Glass is the glass practice of Camilla and Jarle Knapstad near Kristiansand, Norway. Its own website gives an establishment date of 1995. The artists' profile with Norske Glasskunstnere describes a workshop on Flekkerøy, where they moved the furnace in 2021. Establishing the business and relocating the workshop are therefore different events.

In that profile they identify lead-free crystal glass as their material and describe adding colours while the glass is hot. Their practice includes hand-blown glasswork. Galleri Knapstad must also be distinguished from the workshop itself: a gallery is a sales venue, and gallery provenance alone should not establish an object's maker.

When buying possible Knapstad glass, compare form, dimensions and colour combinations with documented works. Record any signature, label, model designation and receipt without supplying missing details from style alone. Craft variations can be described but are not sufficient proof of authorship. Nor should Camilla and Jarle receive separate individual maker attributions without documentation for the actual work.
