Lene Charlotte Tangen
Lene Charlotte Tangen is a glass artist who also presents her work as Lene Tangen. She specialises in sculptural cast glass, further worked by cutting and grinding. This approach differs from ordinary mouth-blown functional glassware.
The Arctic, ice and changing forms and material qualities are important sources of inspiration. In her own presentation, Tangen also describes combining glass with plaster, stone and metal. The use of mixed materials in one sculpture does not establish the construction of all her work. An artist's name should therefore be accompanied by information about the actual object.
For collectors, record title, dimensions, technique and provenance documentation. Sculptural glass may include deliberately worked surfaces, but new chips or repairs should not automatically be explained as artistic intent. Compare documented photographs of the specific work where available. An ice-like texture or Arctic association alone cannot justify attributing an unmarked object to Tangen.
