Lorus
Lorus is a Seiko Watch Corporation brand launched in Europe in 1982. It was developed as an affordable option within the group's range. The Seiko connection identifies a brand and business relationship; it does not establish that a Lorus shares the movement or construction of a particular Seiko model.
The range includes several technologies, including analogue quartz, digital and combined displays, solar power and mechanical models. Three separate characteristics must be distinguished: how time is displayed, how the watch is regulated and where its energy comes from. A solar-powered watch, for example, may have conventional hands. The brand name alone cannot identify which version is present.
For a second-hand Lorus, photograph its reference and case-back wording before looking for instructions or parts. Then check the functions actually provided on that model, including an alarm or stopwatch where relevant. Disclose known faults and any battery damage. Water-resistance or material specifications for a new collection should not be transferred to an older example.
