Målselv Sølvsmie
Målselv Sølvsmie is a Norwegian silversmithing business associated with Karlstad in Målselv. Its presentation through retailer Øiesvold names Gunhild and Per Bjørnar Tangen as the founders in 1981. The name is not a general term for all costume silver from Målselv.
Silver for Bardu and Målselv
Norwegian Folk Museum curator Bjørn Sverre Hol Haugen records in SNL that Per Bjørnar Tangen made silver commissioned by Målselv Husflidslag. Approved in 1981, the designs draw on details of the bunad's embroidery and include neck and breast brooches and cufflinks. The approval date must be distinguished from the manufacture date of an individual example.
Identifying the workshop
Compare model, dimensions, pendants and fastenings with confirmed product documentation. Other goldsmiths have also made silver worn with this bunad. A costume name or retailer's box is therefore insufficient proof of manufacture. Record fineness and any responsibility marks separately; this overview does not identify a specific punch.
