Maria Joanna Juchnowska (Mari JJ Design)

Maria Joanna Juchnowska is the designer behind Mari JJ Design. Buskerud Kunstsenter documents her use of porcelain in jewellery and presents earrings, cufflinks and necklaces. Mari JJ Design and the artist's personal name should therefore not be treated as two unrelated designers.

Porcelain is an important part of the work, but jewellery also includes fittings, clasps or other components. Material descriptions must identify the relevant part: a porcelain element, metal fitting and surface finish are different pieces of information. A gold-coloured detail alone establishes neither solid gold nor a particular gold fineness.

When assessing pre-owned work, examine porcelain edges, fittings and joints. Record chips, cracks and subsequent repairs explicitly. Retain labels, product names and purchase records. Compare the shape with documented work, since colour or the presence of porcelain alone does not establish authorship.
